Revenue collected to the tune of Le 31,192,000 was not banked. Out of the total amount of Le 31,192,000 generated as revenue, supporting documents to substantiate the utilization of funds were only provided for the amount of Le 13,516,300, leaving a difference of Le17, 675.700 not accounted for.

In another development, hundreds of traders marched first to the Freetown City Council (FCC) offices and later to the Victoria Park to express their anger at being asked to relocate to another area when no alternative in the form of market structures had been provided by the FCC or by the government. The angry traders maintained that they would not move unless the authorities provide them with structures to carry on their trade.

The other day too, I was walking across Second Avenue to East 49th Street to get to my office and I saw a potential danger. The lid over a manhole had slid off , partly into the hole , while a huge portion stuck out into the street. Speeding vehicles were dodging it , but it was only a matter of time before an unsuspecting vehicle  rode into it and  got sent airborne and  out of control into the sidewalk , where it could kill a significant number of pedestrians and even crash into the nearby bank and also kill the people in there . I immediately decided to do something about it.

Speaking further on the outcome of the recent constituency and district mini-conventions held by the All People’s Congress party (APC), Mr. Kabba maintained that he was in Kono and that he observed that the ‘selection/election’ process as prescribed by the APC Constitution was relatively peaceful and democratic, although there were a few minor scuffles between supporters of different candidates for executive positions.

As a prelude to conducting Constituency, District and Regional Conventions, a meeting was called of all Chairmen and Chairladies of the APC in the Eastern Region in Kenema where we were told that we should conduct our elections on consultation and selection, and existing members of the party should take part in the selection process. There is a document to that effect.
